How a Consultation Works

Most common questions

  • During your osteopathy consultation, we begin with a short anamnesis to understand your symptoms, lifestyle, medical history, and goals. This helps me identify the root of your discomfort and choose the most appropriate techniques for your body. I then assess posture, mobility, breathing, and tension patterns through gentle palpation, craniosacral listening, and visceral observation. The treatment combines craniosacral, visceral, fascial, and structural techniques to release tension, improve mobility, and support your body’s natural healing. As an osteopath in Cascais, I adapt each session to your needs, and I follow up a few days later to check how your body is responding and guide you through the next steps if needed.

  • Comfortable clothing that allows movement is ideal. Leggings, sportswear, or soft trousers work well.

If you feel comfortable, I generally prefer working directly on the skin, as it allows for more precise and effective techniques. In that case, being in comfortable underwear is perfect.

You are always welcome to stay fully dressed , the session is adapted to the level of clothing you prefer. Your comfort and boundaries are fully respected at all times.

  • No, osteopathy should never be painful. I use gentle, precise techniques adapted to your comfort. Some people feel light pressure or stretching, but the goal is always to work with your body, not against it.

  • It depends on your symptoms and how long they’ve been present. Many people feel improvement after 1–3 sessions, while chronic or long‑standing issues may require more. I always adapt the plan to your body’s response.

  • You pay for your consultationafter the session. I accept card payments and cash in the clinic. Choose whichever option feels easiest all methods are welcome.

  • Yes ,osteopathy is safe and very beneficial during pregnancy when performed by a trained practitioner. I use gentle techniques adapted to each trimester to support comfort, mobility, and breathing.
